MADISON, WI – March 26, 2018 – On April 20, 2018, CSM Companies will be participating in Bowl for Kid’s Sake. This event is the most significant fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters, with over $68,000 (and counting!) raised for the organization this year. CSM Companies’ involvement with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County is in its seventh year. The event is a fun and easy way to raise money for the organization. Teams of five or six are formed and raise as much money as they can for Big Brothers Big Sisters. After they have secured their sponsorships, teams receive two free games of bowling, a Bowl for Kids’ Sake t-shirt, and the chance to win door prizes. According to Cody Zirbel, a member of the accounting staff at CSM Companies, CSM generates the most funds by word of mouth:
”We spread the word and encourage people to participate – and also for them to reach out to friends/family that want to participate.”
Sharon Dolphin, who has been with CSM Companies for 11 years, went on to add:
“Each bowler solicits donations from friends, family, customers and other contacts via email, phone calls or social media.”
CSM Companies hasn’t set a financial goal for this event, but Cody and Sharon mentioned a possible change for the future:
“Perhaps something we can do based on this year’s outcome.  However, Jim (CSM Companies’ CEO) has offered to match any money raised again this year so the more, the better.”

About Sharon: Sharon has been with CSM Companies for 11 years as an inventory coordinator. Her interest in the industry she works in is “the ever-changing drive to provide drivers with what they need and striving to keep up with the latest technologies and safety features.” Her favorite part of her job is reconciling the accounting between CSM Companies’ software programs and the challenge of solving the puzzle as to why numbers don’t match up. About Cody: Cody has been with CSM Companies for ten months as a senior accountant. His interest in his current industry is the opportunity to learn about a new sector of business, its innovations, and the impact it has on everyday life. Cody’s favorite part of the job is learning, and the excitement of “being part of a company that continues to grow as that presents new opportunities/challenges on a regular basis.” When asked about the challenges he faces at work, Cody commented “With a growing company, there are always new things presenting themselves.  Whether it’s working with new people, learning a new system, new reporting or analysis, new industry compliance standards – there are plenty of focal points to keep up to date.  It’s exciting but can also be challenging/overwhelming at times.  So I’ve always tried to prioritize on a daily basis (sometimes more than once per day) what needs to be done and when to make progress on my open items to complete.  Sometimes checking a couple things off a “to do” list in a day can help feel accomplished as it’s easy to look at week full of tasks and be overwhelmed.  Also, it’s OK to ask for help sometimes.”
CSM Companies, their subsidiaries, and their employees are proud to be active members of their communities. Through events like Crazy Legs, Bowling for Kids’ Sake,  toy drives, and community mentoring, CSM Companies is helping make a difference in its community.

“It is a company that is striving and growing, and always looking for ways to give back to the community.”
