Wisconsin Kenworth’s George Andler recently received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award. ESGR is “a Department of Defense agency that seeks to promote a culture in which all American employers support and value the military service of their employees.” The Patriot Award is one of the ESGR’s highest distinctions given to employers who go above and beyond in support of America’s many civilian soldiers.
From ESGR’s website:
Service Member Patriot Award
The first in ESGR’s series of awards is the Patriot Award. An employee serving in the National Guard or Reserve, or the spouse of a Guard or Reserve member, may nominate individual supervisors and bosses for support provided directly to the nominating Service member and his or her family. The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off before and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.
According to the ESGR, it is supervisors like George Andler who make the National Guard, Air National Guard, and other Reserve Institutions a possibility and success. At Wisconsin Kenworth, there is a lot of pride in doing whatever it takes to support the greater good of the nation. That is reflected best by George Andler.
George quickly and humbly deflected any praise-filled remarks toward his hiring of veterans, or members of the National Guard. He said that people like Troy are incredible workers one can count on, so hiring them, supporting them, and wanting to work with them is a no-brainer.
Congratulations to George Andler, recipient of the ESGR Service Member Patriot Award! From ESGR: “The first in ESGR’s series of awards is the Patriot Award. Troy Gibbs, the proud Citizen Soldier who nominated George Andler, gave the following statement:
“Wisconsin Kenworth’s commitments to its employees that serve in the military- both past and present have not been unnoticed. They are accommodating of my military work schedule and help wherever it is needed. They have enabled me to continue my military career and see it as an asset. Because of this, I chose to nominate them for this award on behalf of all the National Guard members that work here to show that Wisconsin Kenworth’s support is appreciated.”
